Last year, approximately USD 146 million were spent on operational costs and USD 44 million on capital expenditures for the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline, APA-Economics reports citing BP’s report on its activities in Azerbaijan for the past year.

According to the information, compared to the indicators of 2023, operational costs for BTC increased by 21.7%, while capital expenditures decreased by 4.3%.

According to the report, approximately 591 million tons (over 4.4 billion barrels) of crude oil has been transported through BTC pipeline - which is 1768 km long, since the time BTC was comissioned in June 2006 until end of 2024 and were loaded onto 5,862 tankers in Ceyhan and shipped to world markets.

It is noted that in 2024, approximately 29 million tons (about 223 million barrels) of crude oil and condensate exported through BTC was loaded onto 305 tankers at the Ceyhan terminal and shipped.

Currently, the BTC pipeline mainly transports ACG oil and Shah Deniz condensate from Azerbaijan. In addition, other regional crude oil and condensate volumes from the Caspian Sea (Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and other volumes produced by SOCAR in Azerbaijan) are also transported through BTC.
