Baku – APA. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited on May 20 the site of the fire in a multi-storey residential building in Baku’s Binagadi district.
The head of state inspected the fire site and gave instructions on the site to the members of the State Commission to take urgent measures to investigate causes of the fire and eliminate its consequences and provide assistances to the fire-affected people and the families of those who died in the fire.
Later on, the Azerbaijani president held the first meeting of the State Commission for investigation of causes of the fire.
The head of state once again offered condolences to the families of those killed in the fire.
The victims of the tragedy were commemorated with a moment of silence.
Then, the president spoke about the measures taken at the state level to address the consequences of the fire. The head of state said that the criminal case was launched on those guilty in the accident and they would be strictly punished.
President Aliyev underlined that the primary version of the cause of the fire is the facing of the building with poor-quality and non-fire-resistant materials. As there is quite a lot of buildings faced with similar materials, the head of state instructed the Baku Mayor’s Office and the Ministry of Emergency Situations to hold expertise in such buildings, study the composition of materials and remove these materials in case of any threat.
The president also gave instructions to pay compensation for the families of the victims and the injured, reconstruct fire-affected building, and provide apartments with household items and issue documents destroyed during the fire.
Members of the commission informed the head of state about the causes of the incident and the onoging work.
President Aliyev gave specific instructions to thoroughly investigate the fire outbreak and take appropriate measures.
