President Ilham Aliyev:â€œAzerbaijan provides 100 percent of its own energy securityâ€

Baku-APA. “This is the largest power station, built in the years of independence. The station of 780 megawatts capacity will strengthen the energy potential of Azerbaijan and will allow the economy to continue to thrive,” said President Ilham Aliyev in the official inauguration ceremony of “Canub”(South) Power Station in Shirvan, APA reports.

“Over the past ten years in Azerbaijan 14 power plants were built. A total amount is 23. Over the last ten years, almost 3,000 megawatts power plants were built, and now our common generating capacity is 6,000 megawatts”, said President Ilham Aliyev. .

The Head of the State noted that the latest technologies were applied in the plant and it meets the latest standards: “I can say that it is the most modern station in the region and all the equipment is installed at the highest level. It is encouraging that Azerbaijani specialists worked at the construction of the station, this station was built by Azerbaijani companies”.

President also noted that new power stations of 2,000 megawatts are planned to build in the next years. Talking also about renewable energy sources, the President noted that Hydroelectric is under construction and solar power plants are planned to build. He said that all the issues in Azerbaijan in the energy sector are successfully resolved: “In general, Azerbaijan’s energy security issues are solved successfully. We consistently perform all the tasks. Today Azerbaijan is one of the few countries in the world that provides 100 percent energy security. Energy security issues are of great importance for any country. Each country should strive to ensure its energy security. Without this, no development is possible. Without this, independent development is impossible. Azerbaijan has not only provided its own energy security, but also plays a role in ensuring the energy security of other countries. The recently adopted solutions turn Azerbaijan into a very serious partner on a global scale, on a global level. This will increase the power of our country. We are successfully performing energy policy, and this policy is bearing fruit. Construction of the station is also a manifestation of our energy policy. However, foreign banks and funds have supported us in the construction of the station. But if Azerbaijan did not have strong financial and economic opportunities, we would not be able to get these loans. However, at the same time, we are now providing loans and financial position of Azerbaijan is very durable.
