New Azerbaijan Party comments on closed meeting of US Ambassador to Azerbaijan with opposition leaders

Mubariz Aslanov – APA. “In general, we regard as interesting the meetings often held by the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar with the representatives of both opposition and the ruling New Azerbaijan Party”, said the deputy chairman and executive secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), MP Ali Ahmadov commenting on closed meeting of US Ambassador to Azerbaijan with opposition leaders, APA reports.

He said YAP leadership held discussions with the US Ambassador.

"Referring to these discussions, I do not suppose that Richard Morningstar discussed with the opposition representatives a certain program on any political problem. According to the information given by the embassy, socio-political situation in the country was discussed at the meeting, we consider this is normal. If there was any talk interfering in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, we are against it. But I do not believe there was such an attempt," he said.

Ali Ahmadov said he supposes that following the closed meeting with the opposition, Richard Morningstar will also meet with YAP officials.
