Baku – APA. Azerbaijan will continue taking the necessary steps against the followers of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), which is led by U.S.-based preacher Fetullah Gulen, said the country’s Interior Minister Ramil Usubov.
He made the remarks during a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Efkan Ala in Ankara Aug. 31, according to the Turkish media.
Usubov said the purpose of his visit to Ankara is to discuss the steps that were and will be taken after the failed coup attempt in Turkey.
“Necessary actions will continue to be taken to prevent FETO from taking roots in Azerbaijan. This, at the same time, is a crime against Azerbaijan, too,” said the interior minister. “We’ll do whatever we can do to eliminate this problem. I ask Allah to have mercy on those martyred and to cause the injured to recover fast.”
In turn, the Turkish minister said that counterterrorism is one of the common topics for Azerbaijan and Turkey.
According to him, there is an effective cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan to eradicate the FETO-linked elements in both countries.
He added that in the future Azerbaijan and Turkey will share a single stance in such issues in addition to the exchange of information.
