APA reports that Ali Hasanov, president's aide for public and political affairs, made the remarks in the opening ceremony of International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) building today.
Hasanov said that IEPF is a classic example of NGOs in Azerbaijan and it has been effectively functioning in Azerbaijan for 20 years: “I highly-assess Umud Rahimoghlu’s activity in this regard. Today, 3 500 NGOs are operating in Azerbaijan like the International Eurasia Press Fund and they are contributing to civil society building in Azerbaijan.
Today, President Ilham Aliyev continues the policy of building civil society founded by Heydar Aliyev. The activities of the International Eurasia Press Fund and its office are the real answer to the accusations of some international organizations saying that the civil society institutions are oppressed in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani authorities regard the civil society institutions as partners and as a result of this policy, the International Eurasia Press Fund has achieved such success. We have several organizations achieving such success. Our NGOs, media outlets are effectively operating within various international organizations.”
