Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. “Though Isa Gamba and Ali Karimli have been trying to be a single candidate of the opposition for years, they have failed. Neither Gambar, nor Karimli, who are constantly speaking about “people’s support”, were supported. At present, both of them gently announce their unity around someone who has been brought from abroad,” said deputy chairman and executive secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Ali Ahmadov in his interview with APA.
According to Ahmadov, Gambar and Karimli have been given tasks and are fulfilling these tasks as usual: “They don’t even hide this and express the truth through Panah Huseyn. The difference is that the task to unite around Rustam Ibrahimbeyov is given by another center. I wonder, did Isa Gambar and Ali Karimli, who have selected Rustam Ibrahimbeyov as a single candidate, think that someone, who doubts that Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan, has moral right to run for presidency? Asked about YAP’s concern caused by Rustam Ibrahimbeyov’s candidacy, Ali Ahmadov can say that the difference in the balance of powers is so high that this “concern” can not be even thought about.”
Commenting on the action plan prepared by the National Council on interim president, dissolution of parliament and other issues, Ahmadov said that action plan of the National Council is nothing but attempts to pull back Azerbaijan from political point of view.
"Azerbaijan has been an independent state for 20 years, elections are regularly held in accordance with the Constitution. Our country is a member of the Council of Europe, is closely participating in a number of projects with the European Union, has been elected to the UN Security Council. The reports on the establishment of interim government in Azerbaijan are the biggest and dirtiest slander on the country. Only those disliking Azerbaijan, wishing to disgrace it can do it. One can only express regret over the action of the authors of these proposals. As regards the dissolution of the parliament, it is connected with the legal nihilism of those who speak about it. Azerbaijan has no mechanism to dissolve the parliament. I think that lack of the mechanism to dissolve the parliament should be considered one of the most important indicators of the stability of Azerbaijan's political system. The action program adopted by the National Council is a program of political destruction, not a program of political changes. Basing on such programs disastrous scenarios have been realized in a number of countries. People are feeling the brunt of these scenarios. But such scenarios can not happen in Azerbaijan. Neither the state, nor the people will allow this," he said.
