Rustam Ibrahimbeyov elected as chairman of National Council established by a group of oppositionists - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

APA reports that chairman of Musavat Party Isa Gambar has nominated him for chairmanship at today’s constituent meeting of the National Council.

Regulation and Declaration of the National Council have been adopted, a message was issued to the international community.

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. A group of oppositionists has established the National Council of Democratic Forces, APA reports.

Jamil Hasanli said at today’s meeting that in the near future, the National Council will determine its presidential candidate. Hasanli considered it inexpedient to discuss the issues uncoordinated during the talk on the establishment of the council.

Human rights activist Novella Jafaroghlu said the organization has not been set up yet and the agenda can be discussed after this step is taken.

Following the establishment of the National Council, the discussions were started to determine a single candidate.

Head of the Central Executive Board of Musavat Party Arif Hajili stood against this and had a dispute with Leyla Yunus.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Liberal Party Avaz Tamirkhan noted that it needs to select a single candidate.

EL movement chairman Eldar Namazov said the issue on single candidacy of Rustam Ibrahimbeyov is included in the agenda.

But it was considered inexpedient to determine a single candidate at this meeting.

129-people list of the National Council has been confirmed. The list doesn’t include famous Panah Huseynov, Rauf Arifoghlu, Ilgar Ibarahimoghlu, Ali Aliyev.
