Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation Muhammad Khouraichi Niass has sent a letter to Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova on occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Genocide in Khojali, APA reports.
The mass killing committed in the Azerbaijani town of Khojali in 1992 contradicts the convention on the prevention and criminalisation of genocidal acts and is a specimen of atrocity and cruelty towards the people of Azerbaijan, according to the letter. Such acts are classified as genocide and are condemned categorically pursuant to the UN General Assembly Resolution No 260 of 9 December 1948. Mr Niass expresses the fullest support to the people, government and parliament of Azerbaijan.
The PU OIC secretary general reiterates his deepest condolences in connexion with the anniversary of the Khojali Genocide and wishes the people of the world and, especially, the people of Azerbaijan the well-deserved peace and prosperity.
