Interior Ministry issues official statement on attempt of protest in Khudat

The Ministry’s press service told APA that on May 9 at 11:20, the cars driven by Khudat resident Rauf Huseynov and serviceman of the State Border Service’s military unit Rovhsan Safarov collided and it caused quarrel between them. The case has been investigated by Khudat Police Department of Khachmaz Region Police Office and solved.

Remaining committed to their instigating traditions, local functionaries of several radical opposition parties attempted to politicize the traffic accident and create tension and confrontation in the region. They incited a group of local residents gathered at the site to hold a march and violate public security and rule.

The attempt of protest was prevented, some of the organizers, including chairman of Musavat Party’s regional organization Heybet Emrah, members Fikrat Aliyev, Aladdin Mirzayev and region resident Nusrat Garayev were detained and an administrative protocol was made under the Code of Administrative Offences article 298.2 (violating rules for organizing and holding meetings). The above-mentioned persons were sentenced to 10-day administrative imprisonment.

The Ministry says that the regional law-enforcement bodies are taking measures to determine and bring to account other instigators and active participants of this attempt of illegal protest.
