"The nearly 30 yearlong occupation of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized sovereign territories has prevented the clarification of the fate of our missing citizens," this was reflected in the article published in AZERTAC by Gazanfar Ahmadov, secretary of Azerbaijan's State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, head of the Working Group, APA reports.
It was noted that despite thanks to the high intelligence, diplomatic, and leadership skills of the victorious Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the heroism of Azerbaijani soldiers and officers, the liberation of Azerbaijan's sovereign territories from the Armenian occupation created great hopes for clarifying the fate of persons who went missing in the First Garabagh War, currently the contamination of these areas with mines and unexploded ordnance, as well as Armenia’s failure to provide information about the burial sites of the missing persons, are the main obstacles to this process.
"Despite official Armenian statements in the media are claiming they have information about the burial sites of the missing Azerbaijanis, this information has not yet been submitted to Azerbaijan. This issue has been brought to the attention of Armenia through international organizations."
