"If the citizen’s consent is not given, no one has the right to film them at the polling stations on election day," the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Mazahir Panahov, said at today’s meeting, APA reports.
He added that such cases could force the CEC to completely ban filming: "These individuals are trying to justify themselves. I believe such cases should not happen. If someone is dissatisfied for some reason, they can prepare a relevant report. As the Central Election Commission, we consider that using social media platforms is accepted as a general trend. However, especially media representatives should inform such individuals that such actions should not be allowed. In fact, media representatives do not have the right to enter polling stations without permission. However, we have created conditions for this. The opportunity for filming inside has been made available as an exceptional case for you and the observers. Overall, I believe that the events happening at polling stations in recent times reflect civilized behavior, which is the result of the educational measures carried out by the Central Election Commission in this area."
