Commission on Combating Corruption of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a meeting on February 6, APA reports.
Samir Nuriyev, Chairman of the Commission on Combating Corruption, made a speech and brought to the attention of the meeting participants the main tasks of the Commission to achieve the goals set by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the field of combating corruption. He noted that continuous measures were implemented in 2024 to increase the efficiency of public administration, strengthen transparency, and combat corruption.
Moreover, the Chairman of the Commission said that the fight against corruption is of great importance in terms of consolidating the achievements achieved as a result of the socio-economic reforms implemented in our country under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. At the same time, anti-corruption measures are also necessary in terms of establishing the activities of state bodies by modern requirements and strengthening public trust in state bodies. Also, increasing accountability and responsibility in the activities of state bodies, new challenges in the field of proper management of state property require systematic and continuous implementation of anti-corruption activities.
The meeting introduced the new members of the Commission elected by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and discussed issues of international cooperation in the field of combating corruption. Within the framework of this cooperation, the work done on the recommendations made by the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) within the framework of the 5th evaluation round was reviewed.
The meeting heard a report on the impact of recent reforms in the judicial system on the fight against corruption, discussed proposals for increasing transparency in this area, and eliminated conditions that create conditions for corruption. Also, an exchange of views was held on the identification, analysis, assessment, and prevention of corruption risks in the activities of state bodies (institutions).
In the end, the Commission's Regulations and work plan for the next period were approved.
