On April 14, Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with a delegation led by Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), APA reports, citing Cabinet of Ministers’ press service.
Satisfaction was expressed during the meeting with the level of long-term effective partnership between Azerbaijan and the ILO.
It was emphasized that improving the social welfare of the population is a key priority of the country’s state policy. It was noted that significant progress has been made in the social protection of millions of people through four social reform packages implemented so far. The fifth social reform package, launched in January of this year, is said to cover 3 million people.
Ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan aimed at increasing labor productivity, improving the labor rights system based on progressive international standards, reducing informal employment, and expanding employment programs were discussed.
The agenda of Azerbaijan–ILO partnership was reviewed during the meeting, and prospects for further cooperation were discussed.
