Draft law on ensuring intellectual property rights and combating piracy adopted in first reading

APA reports that chairman of the Copyright Agency Kamran Imanov also attended the meeting. The project consists of 4 chapters and 17 articles.
The draft law sets the relations on ensuring the protection of the intellectual property rights, protection of owners’ interests of the property rights and the prevention of offences in this sphere including illegal copying and spreading of the intellectual property’s items. The draft law says that the court has right to withdraw goods, which cause offences, from the trade network before paying compensation, confiscation and removal of materials and equipments from the users.

The court has right to pass decision on urgent and useful temporary events to provide property claim.

These measures will be held toward the prevention of production of piracy and infringing goods, which cause violation of the intellectual property rights, prevention of entrance of piracy and infringing goods to the trade networks and to protect evidences which prove the facts of violation of the intellectual property rights.

The project was put to vote and was adopted in the first reading.
