Elnur Aslanov: â€œThe government of Azerbaijan strongly condemns intrusion into private life of Khadija Ismayilova and believes that the truth will become clear soonâ€

Baku â€“ APA. Head of the Political Analysis and Information Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Elnur Aslanov made a statement concerning release of video related to the private life of journalist Khadija Ismayilova. According to APA, the statement reads: â€œA few days ago, video related to the private life of Khadija Ismayilova, reporter of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, was released on Internet.

The government of Azerbaijan considers it unacceptable to intrude into private life of any journalist not depending on him or her political views and ideas. The protection of privacy of the citizens is the main element of human rights and freedoms in the democratic societies. The Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan ensures human rights and freedoms of the Azerbaijani citizens, not depending on their language, faith, ethnicity and social status, and protects them from illegal intrusion into their privacy.

We consider that release of this video is a part of propagandistic campaign by the subversive forces, who try to violate stability in Azerbaijan, to damage international image of the country, to create tensions and confusion in the society.

Law-enforcement organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan are investigating the issue and they will make all efforts to identify and punish the persons, who are behind this dirty action.
