According to APA, the round table was organized by the Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan (ACSDA) and the Joint Working Group for Qualifying International Standards on Human Rights. Addressing the round table, ACSDA president, MP Elkhan Suleymanov said Azerbaijan has not conducted necessary work to inform the world about the genocide acts perpetrated by the Armenians against the Azerbaijani people in March, 1918. “The international community was informed about it only in recent years. Armenians had started to settle in Shamakhi since 1828. Due to the Russia’s imperial policy, Armenians moved from Iran and Turkey to the regions of Northern Azerbaijan, including Shamakhi. Armenians perpetrated genocides against Azerbaijani people in March-April, 1918 and killed 8027 Azerbaijanis in 53 villages of Shamakhi”.

The lawmaker said Armenians put the so-called “Sumgayit genocide” issue on agenda in California. He called all Azerbaijani politicians and public community to work against the Armenians’ anti-Azerbaijan propaganda.

PhD in history Maharram Zulfugarli reminded about the Guba mass grave found in 2007. He said it needs to conduct excavation work in Shamakhi to find out the facts about the Armenian vandalism committed in 1918. “According to some views, residents of Shamakhi killed by Armenians in 1918 were buried in Kalakhana and Suleyman valleys. New mass graves can be found during the excavation work in these territories in the future”.

The round table is continued.
