APA reports that the protest action was dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of 20 January tragedy, 1990. The participants of the protest action chanted slogans â€œPunishment to bloody January killers!â€, â€œRussia, the heir of USSR, must apologize to Azerbaijan!â€, â€œInternational organizations must recognize 20 January tragedy as massacre!â€, â€œRussia, give up pro-Armenian position in Karabakh problem!â€.

The police prevented the attempt of unsanctioned protest action. The protesters were offered opportunity to submit the resolution to the embassy.

The resolution expressed protest against Russia regarding the massacre committed by the USSR armed forces in Baku and regions of Azerbaijan. It was noted that the Azerbaijani parliament should make an objective political assessment of the 20 January tragedy. The document regards 20 January events as crime against humanity. President and parliament of Russia, the heir of the USSR, must officially apologize to the Azerbaijani people. Gorbachov, Yazov, Primakov, Bakatin and others must stand trial, international organizations must be appealed concerning the massacre.
