Azerbaijan presents National Action Program for increasing efficiency of protection of human rights and freedoms – <font color=red>UPDATED </font>

APA reports that the governmental officials, MPs and representatives of civil society participated in the event.

Chairman of the Parliament’s Legal Policy and State-building Committee spoke about the significance of the event. He underlined the necessity of cooperation between mass media and civil society.

Azerbaijan’s representative in the European Court on Human Rights Chingiz Asgarov informed about the structure and essence of the National Action Program. He said that the National Action Program formed the component of Development Conception “Azerbaijan 2020: view to the future”. According to Asgarov, the development and approval of the document shows that the human rights, the increase of efficiency in this sphere are the foreground issues which are in the attention of the state and the head of state.

Chairman of Great Creation Party Fazil Mustafa said the National Action Program was one the most serious documents developed in Azerbaijan in recent years.

Monica Martinez, Rule of Law Programme Manager at the OSCE Office in Baku, highly appreciated the National Action Program.

Head of the Human Rights Department of the Justice Ministry of Azerbaijan Faig Gurbanov said following the adoption of the National Action Program, the ministry held a board meeting and started the elaboration of the plan of special measures.

Members of the Azerbaijan Lawyers Confederation Alimammad Nuriyev, Sahib Mammadov and others also expressed their opinion about the National Action Program.
