Azerbaijani President approves the National Action Programme to improve the protection of the rights and freedoms in the country

The preamble of the document pointed out that in 1998, Heydar Aliyev has approved the first in independent Azerbaijan fundamental document to ensure the country’s human rights - the State National Program. The program was held in Azerbaijan on the successful work of building the rule of law, development of civil society, effective protection of human rights and freedoms.
Passed in 2006 enacted the "National Plan of Action for the Protection of Human Rights in Azerbaijan" was a qualitatively new stage in the process of human rights and has served as the formation of a new universal and regional cooperation strategy, the creation of partnerships between civil society and state. Conducts regular reviews of the implementation of the National Action Plan for Human Rights in Azerbaijan, according to the results of this work were public hearings, with representatives from all sectors of the public.

The document says that in order to ensure sustainable measures aimed at effective protection of human rights and freedoms, the development of legal culture, and improving the regulatory framework and protection of human rights in Azerbaijan, the President approved the National Action Programme to improve the protection of human rights in Azerbaijan.

Omudsman of Azerbaijan recommended to guide the activities of the Coordinating Working Party on the implementation of the program, the Presidential Administration requested an analysis of the results of a National Action Plan and submit their suggestions for improving this work.

In the document the Milli Majlis, the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, Judicial Council, Bar Association, the Broadcasting Council of Azerbaijan encouraged to actively participate in the program.

At the disposal, it is noted that the concerns of the National Action Programme executive authorities should work closely with civil society in implementing the program.
