Pre-election campaign of municipal candidates finishes in Azerbaijan

APA reports that as no political party or block was registered in these elections, the agitation was carried out by registered candidates.

According to the electoral legislation, the campaign started at 08.00 on November 7, has continued for 21 days and has been finished at 08.00 today.

The candidates will run for 464 places in 330 municipalities during the voting in 86 constituencies. In general, 1567 candidates were registered. 16 people withdrew their nomination, 2 people died. Consequently, the number of registered to municipal elections decreased from 1567 to 1549.

9863 observers were registered in the electoral districts, 40 â€“ in the Central Election Commission. The total number of registered observers is 9903.

Last municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan on December 23, 2009.
