APA reports that head of the mission Audrey Glover has held a press conference on this occasion. The mission was sent following an invitation by the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan. Yesterday the mission met with Elmar Mammadyarov.
“16 members of the mission’s major delegation represent 11 OSCE member states. 22 long-term observers will come later, they will be sent to the regions. The short-term observation mission will arrive in Azerbaijan on November 3. The mission is paying particular attention to observing whether there is genuine political competition, where voters are able to make an informal choice between distinct alternatives competing on a level playing field, including equal opportunities to hold meetings and rallies as well as equitable access to the media,” said Ambassador Glover.

Audrey Glover said it would be the eighth election to be observed by OSCE in Azerbaijan.
“We will also be looking to see to what extent the authorities have addressed previous ODIHR recommendations. Two interim reports will be prepared, a statement of preliminary findings and conclusions will be issued on the day after the elections and a final report about two months after the end of the electoral process,” she said.
