Ali Ahmadov: Some of the parliamentarians from YAP do not want to participate in the forthcoming parliamentary elections – EXCLUSIVE
He does not consider that YAP’s list of candidates will cause discontent in the party.
“Some persons may have different views on the list, I consider it normal. YAP has more than half a million members. I suppose all members will support this list, but I also consider that some may express different opinions on it. I think the future will show how well our list is considered,†he said.
Ali Ahmadov also took a stance on the fact that some of the parliamentarians had not been included into the list of YAP’s candidates.
“The tactics of determining every candidate first of all depends on how successful he will be in the constituency. Views may differ. But as the fate of the elections is determined by the voters’ sympathy and opinion, we must take into consideration the voters’ desire, not our personal views. We took into consideration these criteria while determining our candidates. In this respect some of the parliamentarians from YAP have not been included into the list. Others do not want to run for the parliament,†he said.
YAP Executive Secretary also commented on the issue of 11 constituencies, from where the party had not nominated candidates.
“In its election tactics YAP uses the method of supporting respectable Azerbaijanis nominated from various constituencies. In 2005 we supported several respectable persons. This year we have also chosen the tactics to support several respectable persons nominated from various constituencies. I suppose this is a right approach. On the other hand, our party supported the leaders of the parties, which are YAP’s allies. This was so in the previous elections, during these elections we will also support them. Therefore, we have not nominated candidates from 11 constituencies. We have not nominated a candidate from Khankendi constituency #122, because there are no YAP’s structures there,†he said.
YAP has publicized the list of the candidates for parliamentary elections. The list includes candidates from 114 constituencies. There are 125 constituencies in Azerbaijan.
