Ali Ahmadov: We will work on the list of the parliamentary candidates till it is made public – INTERVIEW
-What can you say about YAP’s preparations for the elections?
-I think the New Azerbaijan Party is completely ready for the election campaign. The elections will start in a few days. Our party can consider itself ready for the elections. First of all we have managed to create election atmosphere in al the structures of our party, among our members. Good mood among the party members is very important in order to hold successful election campaign. The New Azerbaijan Party brings together over 500,000 Azerbaijanis. We have also worked to bring our big resources to the level of preparation. We have also done much to determine our election tactics and strategy of our campaign.
-Is YAP’s list of candidates ready?
-Our party has done much in this field, too. We have a lot of members for candidacy. But we intend to nominate those who can win the support of the voters. We have always done so. I suppose after the election campaign starts we will complete our activities and make public our list of candidates.
-Does YAP have a concrete list?
-It will be known when the list is announced. Of course, we will work on this list till the list is introduced. This is the same in the other parties. This is quite normal.
-Some newspapers publish lists claiming that they belong to the government. There are disputes over lists. What can you say about it?
-Be sure that there will be the only list – this is the list of New Azerbaijan Party. This list will express the opinion of the party, chairman of the party. As regards various lists published in the newspapers, they are false, they have been invented by these newspapers. This is their “listâ€.
- YAP is supposed to increase the number of woman and young representatives at the parliament this time. Do you really think to take such step?
- YAP has always paid special attention to the activity of the young generation, including women. We succeeded to involve them in local elections in 2009 and today both young people and women are considerably represented in municipalities in comparison with previous years. We will certainly take it into consideration in the upcoming parliamentary elections as well.
- You said if any party member put forward his of her candidacy independently, he or she would be punished. Is this statement still in force?
- Yes it is. But I don’t believe that our party members will act against it.
- AXCP and Musavat parties establish a joint electoral block. May it be alternative for YAP?
- I’ve heard about it from the press. But let me mention again that there is neither party nor block which can be opponent to YAP.
- Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov has recently said that the number of writings which can be considered “black PR†increased in Azerbaijan. What is your stance on this issue?
- I’ve always been against the writings of any forms that negatively impacts on the peoples’ dignity. As YAP, we do not need to use any “black PR†elements. On the other hand, instead of making “idle†statements against “black PR†campaign, the Press Council should think of taking effective measures to prevent it.
