17 years passed since occupation of Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli and Jabrayil regions by Armenians
There were 70 libraries, 20 cultural centers, 45 clubs, two theaters, 685-bed 13 hospitals, 40 first aid stations and dispensaries, 20 cinemas, three vocational schools, 38 kindergartens, two museums, stadium, 65 collective and 12 private farms before the occupation.
13 settlements and 20 villages of the region were liberated from the Armenian occupation. 51 thousand displaced persons settled in 12 newly-built IDP settlements. Grain, cattle-breeding, wine production and silkworm breeding farms were developed in the region. Construction, transport and industrial enterprises were also developed alongside with the agricultural fields.
1100 people became martyrs or missing in the battles for liberation of Fuzuli. 113 people were taken hostage and 1450 became invalids. 36 361 children in the region suffered from the Armenian aggression and 155 of them lost their parents.
There are 58 858 thousand square m of limestone fields, 11 211 thousand square m of clay fields and 13 053 square m of sand and gavel resources in Fuzuli region, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources said.
11 Eastern plane-trees of 200-1400 age were protected as the natural monuments before the occupation.
Today is also the day of occupation of Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil region by Armenians. Jabrayil is a region with rich natural resources and beautiful nature. It was founded in 1930. There are about 120 historic and architectural monuments, valuable forests, rich mineral and natural resources and exceptional flora and fauna in the region. All the monuments and resources were destroyed by the Armenians. 246 people became martyrs, 91 were taken hostage or became missing and 177 people became invalids as a result of Armenian aggression.
