Armenian invaders occupied 882 sq km of 1092 sq km territory of Aghdam on July 23, 1993 and expelled 128 thousand people from their homes, APA reports. 122 villages, 24 446 dwelling buildings, 48 industrial and construction facilities, 160 schools, 65 health centers, 373 cultural centers, one theater, three mosques and two museums were burned and destroyed completely as a result of the occupation. Grave military crimes were committed during the invasion in Aghdam. It is the largest region of Azerbaijan for the number of martyrs it gave during the Karabakh war. Nearly 6 000 residents of the region were killed in the battles with the Armenians. The war caused 13 billion 135 million USD damages on the region.
