Ziyafat Asgarov: â€œTerritorial integrity of Azerbaijan is out of the questionâ€

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev â€“ APA. â€œI am expecting certain progresses from the meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents on July 18. The meetings were held so far and it will be developed further. But one point is clear for us that Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict must be solved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. It is univocal pointâ€, First Vice Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov told journalists, APA reports. He said there were talks over the Madrid principles recently, but he didnâ€™t know the documents closely. â€œI know the Moscow Declaration and last statement by the US State Department. The fact is that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was univocally described in the Moscow Declaration last year. It means that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is out of the question and the talks could be held within the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijanâ€.

Asgarov said principles of the international law were described in the UN Security Councilâ€™s four resolutions, Moscow Declaration and the documents adopted by the Council of Europe. Regarding the military solution to the conflict, Asgarov said this issue was always on agenda. â€œWe are always stressing that peaceful solution to the conflict is within the interests of both countries, but if national interests and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is not protected, the military solution will come to agendaâ€.
