Parliament officials express opinion about expiration of Ombudspersonâ€™s mandate

There are personnel of the Human Rights Commissionerâ€™s Office and it continues its activity despite the Commissionerâ€™s mandate expiresâ€, said Head of the Parliamentâ€™s Office Safa Mirzayev on Tuesday at a press conference on the results of extraordinary session of the parliament. He said despite the mandate of present Human Rights Commissioner expired there was no need to concern over that the new candidates were not introduced to the parliament.

Chairman of the Parliamentâ€™s Legal Policy and State-Building Committee Ali Huseynov said it was not contradictory to the Constitution that the new Ombudsperson had not been elected yet. He said the law regulated only procedure rules.

Huseynov said it was not acceptable to value the amendments to the law on freedom of faith as the governmentâ€™s interference in the religion.
