"I highly appreciate the world's calls to combat climate change regarding the transition to green energy and decarbonization," Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, Alparslan Bayraktar told APA.

This was stated by Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey, in an exclusive interview with APA.

The Minister emphasized that the transition must be based on realistic and rational grounds: "We do not have the opportunity to transition away from gas and oil too quickly. Because the backbone of the world's economy relies on fossil fuels. Natural gas, in particular, is very important here because green energy sources like solar and wind do not work without sunlight or wind. For example, if there is no sun, there is no wind power. Instead, we need to use natural gas, which emits less than coal. We must produce electricity using natural gas. Therefore, I believe that we will continue to use natural gas for a while—until the 2040s."
