The main objective of COP29 is to increase financing to developing countries, Minister of Environment and Energy of Portugal, Maria da Graça Carvalho said in an interview with APA.
"As the European Union, our expectation is to increase the number of countries involved in financing. The number of these countries and the amount of funding will be the main topics of discussion over the next two weeks," the minister said.
She emphasized that she is aware of Azerbaijan's interest in cooperation with Portugal in the field of renewable energy: "Because we are sufficiently developed and have experience in the field of renewable energy, and Azerbaijan wants to promote renewable energy sources more and more. Our ambassador in Azerbaijan conveyed your country's desire to cooperate in order to learn something in this field, and our intention is to work together with countries that wish to cooperate with us in the field of renewable energy."
