"Countries combating climate disasters are as concerned with finding ways to overcome the harmful effects of this problem as financing," these remarks were made at the press conference titled "USCAN: Indigenous Perspective About Likely COP Outcomes" held within the framework of COP29 held in Baku, Azerbaijan, APA reports.
"Today, they are not thinking about when the conflict in one part of the world will end but rather ways to be saved from climate change. I believe people should be aware of the amount of climate financing that needs to be determined within the framework of COP29."
It was also noted that COP29 is the most optimal platform for parties to be turned to finding effective financial mechanisms.
"Proposed methods for addressing the problem of climate change, as well as financial mechanisms, should be accessible to every country and the entire population of the planet. I believe that within the framework of COP29, parties will focus on finding the most effective financial tools. This is such an issue that every country should set aside political ambitions, even temporarily, and concentrate on the solution process. Just as the political order of the world depends on the level of relations between countries, humanity’s safety also hinges on this factor.
When discussing climate finance, we are talking about trillions of dollars. Countries combating climate disasters are concerned only with finding ways to overcome them. Today, they are not thinking about when a conflict in one part of the world will end but rather about how to be saved from climate change. I believe that people should be aware of the amount of climate financing that needs to be determined within the framework of COP29. When talking about tackling climate change, we must consider future generations. The negotiations that will begin here today must absolutely yield results. There is no issue in the world that cannot be resolved. The main thing for us is to focus on the solution and choose the right option. Thinking about the future of the world is the responsibility of each of us."
At the end of the conference, questions from journalists were answered.
