Azerbaijan’s Migration Service reveals work done in connection with COP29

The State Migration Service, together with the COP29 Organizing Committee and the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, took measures to simplify migration registration procedures, increase awareness, as well as flexible solutions to issues that may arise during entry and exit to the country, Ulvi Aliyev, head of the International Cooperation Department of the State Migration Service, talked about this during the briefing, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, in accordance with the Agreement signed between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the requirement for registration within 15 days has been extended to 30 days for COP29 participants.

Ulvi Aliyev also added that the benefits apply to foreigners and non-citizens who come to the country with a COP29 visa or without a visa after registering the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The necessary technical and organizational preparations have been made for the practical application of these requirements, the smooth and unobstructed passage of foreigners participating in the event, especially those who came to Azerbaijan without a visa.

Ulvi Aliyev said that a high-level panel discussion dedicated to the topic of human displacement in the context of climate change (November 18) is planned to be held during the COP29 event together with the International Organization for Migration.
