Baku-APA. Supporters of the resignation of President Mikheil Saakashvili blocked the way out of the office of the "United National Movement" in Georgia’s second largest city of Kutaisi today, preventing the President to leave the office for some time, APA reports quoting Georgia Online.

Presidential adviser, Raphael Glucksmann, wrote on his Facebook page via mobile that the protesters were activists from the ruling "Georgian Dream" coalition.

“Georgian Dream activists physically assaulting us at a fraction meeting in Kutaisi with the President,” Glucksmann wrote at about 5 pm on December 19.

“Rule of law being replaced by rule of crowd, as we see it daily with the attacks of mobs against local self-governments. A great step forward for Georgian democracy indeed,” he stressed.

Demanding resignation of the President, protesters first gathered in front of City Hall in Kutaisi, at the time, when the president was holding meeting with local government officials. Up to 600 people protested his presence there and demanded his resignation.

After the meeting at City Hall, Mikheil Saakashvili took the back door out of the building and moved to the office of the "National Movement", to again be met by protesters there. The President was able to leave the office UNM only with the help of his security. Media reports say the protesters threw stones at the presidential motorcade.
