Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated on Friday that Moscow doesn't refuse to engage in negotiations with Ukraine about putting an end to the crisis, however noting the talks can take place only if Russia's security interests are respected, APA reports.
Speaking to reporters following the meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara, Lavrov said that the West is trying to remove Russia from the international arena due to its independent policy, and that China would be the next target if Russia is defeated as well as any other country that "dares to act independently."
Lavrov further claimed that the crisis in Ukraine was caused by Washington's efforts to become a global hegemon. Earlier this week, the United States pledged to provide Ukraine with an additional $2.6 billion in military aid, mainly ammunitions for heavy weaponry.
