The Federation Council of Russia has approved a law that allows the use of citizens' vehicles for counterterrorism measures within the framework of the anti-terrorist operation regime, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
The draft law was reviewed during today's plenary session of the upper house of the Russian parliament.
The amendments refer to additions to the article of the "Counterterrorism" law that determines the legal regime of anti-terrorist operations.
According to the existing rules in areas where the anti-terrorist operation regime is applied, during the operation, when there is a real threat to human life or health, vehicles and self-propelled machines belonging to organizations and individuals, regardless of their ownership, can be used to deliver persons in need of urgent medical care to medical institutions, as well as to neutralize individuals suspected of committing a terrorist act.
The new rules specify that vehicles owned by citizens and organizations can be used to ensure counterterrorism activities.
