Tbilisi–APA. “The Georgia-US relations will reach a quite higher phase after the signing of strategic partnership deal between the two countries”, said Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, APA reports. He said the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries was in the preparation period. “We are in the phase of negotiations now. It means that our relations with the most powerful country of the world will enter into the new phase”. Saakashvili said he was hopeful that the United States would overcome the world financial crisis as the most powerful state. “The United States never before called Georgia its strategic partner, this idea was not included in any document or agreement. If our relations reach the level of strategic partnership, it can be considered as a worthy respond to the military aggression against Georgia”. The Georgian President said hundreds of millions of dollars were spent for the campaign against his country. “Several scandalous articles were published in the Western mass media only in the recent few days. The campaign of the Western PR companies provided through the Western journalists is funded by the Russian security services. We do not have to fear of it. The Western world is a democratic society. There are many newspapers and PR companies there. They cannot be victorious over us in the conditions of democracy and freedom. Truth will win in any case”.
