Warsaw – APA. Chief of the Polish Government Protection Bureau General Mariann Janitsky fired the president’s chief bodyguard Krzysztof Olszowiec over the Georgia incident, said Polish newspapers on Thursday, APA reports. Olszowiec couldn’t organize the president’s security in necessary level. The head of state was against the decision, but Prime Minister Donald Tusk approved it. The Government Protection Bureau, which provides physical protection of top officials, is subordinated to the government.
Polish President Lech Kaczyński, arriving in Georgia to attend celebrations of 5th anniversary of the “Revolution of Roses” and his Georgian counterpart, Mikhail Saakashvili, left the airport for Georgian refugee camps near South Ossetian border, settled by the people who became homeless as a result of August events. Motorcade of the presidents were fired near the Russian militaries’ border checkpoint and the presidents were forced to return back.
