Valentina Matviyenko: The Russian people need new political faces

Moscow. Farid Akbarov â€“ APA. â€œSome years later new faces will appear on the political arena of Russia,â€ chairperson of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko said at the briefing, APAâ€™s Moscow correspondent reports.

Commenting on the presidential elections in Russia, Valentina Matviyenko called them completely legitimate. She said Vladimir Putin won the majority of the votes.

â€œThe elections were transparent. It was possible to observe the process by the cameras installed at the polling stations. Those who spread reports about rigging of elections do it deliberately. The Russian people confide in Vladimir Putin,â€ she said.

Matviyenko said the Russian people need new political faces.
â€œThe recent presidential elections showed it. It is a great result that Mikhail Prokhorov participated in the elections and left behind two candidates, Vladimir Zhirinovsky and Sergei Mironov. This is a great victory,â€ she said.
