Baku-APA. Ten terrorists of the Islamic Jihad Union arrested in southern Kyrgyzstan had been plotting a series of terror attacks during the upcoming presidential elections, chief of Kyrgyzstan’s State National Security Committee Keneshbek Dushebayev told Interfax Monday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"Among them there are citizens of various ethnicities, including Kyrgyz, Uzbeks, Tajiks and Uyghurs," Dushebayev said.

"We will not allow stability to be shaken. Investigative operations continue in southern Kyrgyzstan," he said.

All law enforcement services are involved in the efforts to maintain stability ahead of the presidential elections set for Oct. 30 and measures to ensure law and order have been tightened, he added.

A law enforcement operation was carried out in Osh on Saturday to neutralize terrorists, one of whom had taken minibus passengers hostage. The terrorist was killed after he offered armed resistance.
