Azerbaijanis in Georgia require appointments to high public office

Tbilisi. Nizami Mammadzadeh - APA. Head of the “Azerbaijani Youths of Georgia” NGO, Araz Eyvazov addressed an open letter to Prime Minister Nika Gilauri with the requirement to appoint Azerbaijanis to high public office, APA reports.

APA’s Georgia Bureau reports that, the appeal says that the 600 000 Azerbaijanis live in Georgia and they actively involved in social and political life of Georgia. They support a team of Mikhail Saakashvili, and has always stood for national stability. Georgian Azerbaijanis far from the political and religious radicalism, and remain law-abiding citizens.

The appeal says that the Georgian government after the Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Nalbandov, was appointed the second ethnic Armenian - Deputy Finance Minister Grigory Bayburt. At the same time high-level government positions Georgia, there are no ethnic Azeris. While the Azerbaijani population of Georgia is twice more than Armenians.

The authors of the notes that the Azeris in contrast to the Armenian community does not speculate on language minority. The leader of the Azerbaijani youth of Georgia expressed his hope that his appeal will receive an appropriate response of the government.
