Alla Dudaeva to present Russian-speaking program on Georgian TV

Tbilisi – Nino Jvania – APA. Georgian Public Television and Radio Company began broadcasting of new channel on January 1, 2010.

According to APA’s correspondent in Georgia, the First Caucasus TV is available on Internet at www.1k-tv.com.

The broadcasting will begin at 19.00 on Tuesday. It conducted test broadcasting during the New Year holiday. Its purposeful audience will be post-soviet space. The channel will conduct anti-campaign against the Russian TV channels. Its news programs will be on air for four times a day – at 12.00, 15.00, 19.00 and 22.00.

Famous Russian pro-opposition journalist Oleg Panfilov and former Chechen leader Johar Dudaev’s widow Alla Dudaeva will also work for the new TV channel. Both of them received Georgian citizenship.

Alla Dudaeva will present “The Caucasian Portrait”, which will cover the cultural issues uniting the peoples divided by wars and politics.

In his interview with the First Caucasus, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili called the Russian-speaking channel for the Georgian viewers as an important step.

70 percent of the First Caucasus programs will be devoted to Georgia and other part to the world, Russia and North Caucasian news. The TV’s budget is three million USD. Most part of these resources will be spent to the satellite broadcasting. It will begin cable broadcasting and radio programs as well.
