Moldova plans to hold referendum on NATO membership

Kishinev – APA. The ruling coalition having the majority of the seats in Moldovan parliament intends to put to referendum the proposal on the country’s integration into NATO. APA reports that leader of Moldova Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat declared the ruling coalition’s intention. Vlad Filat said that the ruling coalition is going to put to referendum the proposal on the country’s NATO membership.
Only one of the four parties represented in the ruling coalition – Democratic Party supports Moldova’s staying in CIS.
Vlad Filat called CIS “a dead-born institution”.
The next summit of CIS heads of states will be held in Kishinev in October.
