12.7X108 caliber Mubariz Istiglal demonstrated in Istanbul international defense fair last week are anti-material sniper rifle. The rifle is designed to destroy troops, military equipment and fortified positions of the enemy in a long distance.

The sniper rifle is equipped with Azerbaijan-produced optical targets and it allows shooting targets at a distance of 2 meters.

The Ministry said that this year the tests of Istiglal-T, the modernized model of 14.5 mm caliber Istiglal anti-material sniper rifle, will be continued. Its weight reduced by 7 kg to 28 kg.

14.5 mm Istiglal sniper rifle produced by Azerbaijani specialists is among the best in its class. The rifle prevails over its foreign analogs for its shooting distance and striking force. At present, this rifle is being used on frontline by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. This rifle is also included in the armament of Jordanian King Abdullah II Royal Special Forces Brigade.

The second type of Istiglal sniper in named “Mubariz” in the honor of national hero Mubariz Ibrahimov. The Turkish side is working on joint production of the rifle.
