Australian Chevron LNG workers to start strikes

Workers at two Chevron Corp.'s liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants in Australia have notified the company they intend to start industrial action amid a labor dispute, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The Offshore Alliance, representing around 500 workers who opted to strike, sent a notice to Chevron that action at the Gorgon and Wheatstone LNG facilities will start on September 7.

The two plants supply around 7% of the world's LNG output.

The strike will include rolling stoppages, work limitations and bans, and is planned to escalate each week "until Chevron agrees to our bargaining claims," the Offshore Alliance said. "Chevron’s bargaining efforts have been the most inept and incompetent performance we have seen to date from any of the outfits we have dealt with since the formation of the Offshore Alliance in October 2018."
