Baku. Real Jafarli – APA. The delegation led by UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos is on a visit to Iran.
APA reports quoting IRIB the visit aims at discussing the issues of natural disasters, humanitarian and emergency aid between Iran and the United Nations, regional and international cooperation, especially further development of the current cooperation.
Valerie Amos met with Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on September 15.
The Iranian Foreign Minister said that his country supports the political solution of the Syrian crisis: “We condemn the use of chemical weapons, regardless of where and by whom they are used”. According to him, the UN should take an active part in the political solution of the Syrian crisis and the elimination of negative human impacts on regional people.
UN Under-Secretary General expressed her concern over the continuation of the Syrian conflict and the increase of migrants: “The crisis should be resolved by political means with the help of the powerful nations led by Iran and peace and stability should be restored in Syria.”
