Anadolu agency confirmed the report. “One part of the Turkish military contingent in Bashika district has been sent to the north of Iraq”, said the report.
Iraq appealed to the United Nations Security Council on Dec. 11 to demand an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all Turkish troops from northern Iraq. This appeal was supported by Russia, the permanent member of UN Security Council.
Turkey says its soldiers are training Iraqi Kurdish forces and Sunni Arab tribal fighters around Mosul ahead of an expected offensive aimed at taking the city back from the Islamic State militants.
