The killed people belonged to Al-Nusra Front. There are 6 citizens of Azerbaijan, 4 – Turkey, 5 – Jordan, 9 – Saudi Arabia, as well as Afghanistan and Pakistan among them.
On September 13, Azerbaijani citizen aka Abu Yahya, who headed the group consisting of Azerbaijanis inside “Immigrant and Ansar Army”, was killed in the fights in Syrian Hama city. More than 4 Azerbaijanis were reportedly killed in those battles.
As of early August, more than 60 Azerbaijanis participated in the fights against Bashar Assad forces in Syria.
