Baku-APA. Israeli builders maintaining a security fence in the northern part of the Golan Heights came under gunfire from Syria on Tuesday evening, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement, APA reports quoting AP.
The incident caused no casualties, though some bushes on the Israeli side of the border caught fire, the statement said.
An IDF spokeswoman in Tel Aviv declined to comment on whether the shooting was intentional or a spillover from fighting between the Syrian government forces and the rebels in areas adjacent to the border.
She said that Israeli troops did not fire back in the incident.
Israel captured most of the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 war and later annexed it.
