Baku-APA. The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) is considering severing the security coordination and peace negotiations with Israel, a Palestinian official said on Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"The move comes in response to the decision of the Israel government to halt cooperation with the PNA," the official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered government offices to halt cooperation with the Palestinian government amid the latter's request to join 15 international UN conventions.
The decision pertains to economic and civilian cooperation with the Palestinians, and does not pertain to the activity of Justice Minister and chief negotiator Tzipi Livni, as well as the security- related coordination.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian official revealed that the Palestinian side has informed the U.S. special envoy for the peace process Martin Indyk that the Israeli decision would further worsen the already fragile relations between Israel and the Palestinians.
Peace negotiations have hit a deadlock after Israel refused to release a scheduled batch of 26 Palestinian prisoners in late March.
