The Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs Reyad al-Malki said in a press statement that the Israeli threat to punish the Palestinians "is a continuation of Israel's policy which is based on violating the international law."
Following the stalemate in the peace process, the Palestinians warned that they would apply for joining the international agencies and treaties in response to Israel's refusal to free long- term Palestinian prisoners from its jails.
In response, Israel warned that it would maintain severe ties with the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and carry out tightened security measures against the Palestinians.
The senior Palestinian diplomat also said that the Palestinian decision to join the international agencies and treaties "can never be considered as a violation to the international laws, on the contrary, it is our legal right."
